Morning Face Mask Recipe

Who knew that foods you normally eat for breakfast are just as nutritious and beneficial for your skin! This is a mask of champs 🙂

All you need for this simple and healthy face mask can be found in your refrigerator, pantry, and on your countertop! A little banana here, some strawberries there, a bunch of oatmeal here, top it off with some organic jojoba oil and you are on your way to some yummy & moisturized skin!

Start off by measuring out 1 cup of oatmeal! This is raw oatmeal (before you cook it), and you want it that way. The raw oatmeal acts as an exfoliator, removing the dead skin cells off of your face. Not only that, but it absorbs and gets rid of impurities and surface dirt while reducing dryness and restoring natural moisture balance to your skin! Hello Oatmeal, you are my new best friend!

Next comes the banana.  Most people are aware that bananas are a great source of potassium, but don’t realize that they also contain iron, calcium, Vitamin C, and multiple antioxidants. When you use bananas in a mask you allow the Vitamin C to help deep clean your pores, and the antioxidants to remove and neutralize free radicals on your skin! A snack and face cleanser all in one 🙂

Next come the strawberries! Strawberries, like bananas, are packed to the brim with Vitamin C, which aids in anti-aging,  as well as the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and acne. The more Vitamin C the better! Strawberries are also chalk full of salicylic acid which will help to get rid of dead skin cells and tone your skin to leave you with a more youthful appearance. Yes please!

Now for the “pièce de résistance.” Time to add 1 tablespoon of Oro de Sonora organic jojoba oil! Jojoba oil is the power player of facial oils. It contains many important nutrients, such as vitamin E, B complex vitamins, and the minerals silicon, chromium, copper, and zinc. Because it is so similar to the sebum our skin naturally produces, it is easily and readily absorbed into your skin, directly feeding your skin those nutrients! It is antimicrobial, and antifungal and will literally dissolve the sebum that clogs your pores. Add to that, that it is one of the most gentle and skin softening oils and you will never use another oil again!

You will be left with a thick moisturizing mask. Stick your nose into the blender and please tell me that is not the most amazing smell! So good you could almost eat it 🙂

Start with a clean face and apply the mask liberally over your entire face, and let it sit for 15 minutes. You will feel a slight tingle from the salicylic acid from the strawberries, be consumed by the relaxing scents of oatmeal and banana, and have the softest skin of your life by letting the jojoba oil transport all of its and its counterparts nutrients deep into your skin.

When your 15 minutes is up, rub the mask off in a circular motion to add another layer of exfoliation to your skin! Rinse with warm water until there is nothing left on your face, and that is all you need to do. Your skin will be incredibly soft and ready for the day! Try not to put on any makeup and let your skin really enjoy itself naturally 🙂
